Intellectual Property Rights

OGC is seeking to establish a clearly identified marketplace, where users/customers of its Best Practice guidance can be assured that they are investing in quality products and services.

To support this, OGC has developed a policy on the use of its trade marks including, logos and endorsement marks. This includes the provision of an authorised route for suppliers, where they can have their products endorsed, potentially enhancing their value in the marketplace.

APMG has been granted delegated authority by OGC to issue licences for the re-use of OGC's trade marks and the Crown copyright in the publications relating to them. This means that they issue licences to Accredited Organisations for them to use OGC's IP within their training materials and related marketing activities. APMG also license non-accredited organisations and individuals who wish to re-use OGC's intellectual property within their products and services.

IP Infringements

Through the Intellectual Property Management Board chaired by OGC, we work together (APMG, OGC, TSO and the Office of Public Sector Information [OPSI] ) to actively assist in the protection of our partners' IPR by direct surveillance of websites and by using our network of Accredited Organisations to bring potential infringements to our attention and take action where necessary.

If you do encounter any cases where you suspect that OGC's intellectual property is being infringed, then please report the infringement by email to ogcinfringements@best-management-practice.com.

Please provide your name, contact details and as much information about the infringement as possible, including the nature of the infringement and any contact details for the infringer.

The Office of Government Commerce (OGC) has made significant investment in developing and maintaining a portfolio of Best Practice guidance. These products were created to help UK government organisations to develop capability and deploy best practice in the disciplines of programme, project and risk management and IT service management.

OGC's Best Practice products present flexible, practical and effective guidance, drawn from a range of the most successful global business experiences. The products have helped improve processes and operations for organisations of all sizes – including small businesses, public sector organisations and major global enterprises.

OGC welcomes and encourages complementary products from third parties.
